Apple iPhone 16 Pro to Feature Advanced Metalens in Face ID System

Apple may upgrade the iPhone 16 Pro’s Face ID with innovative metalenses, enhancing the TrueDepth camera.

Metalenses are ultra-thin, flat lenses that replace bulky, curved lenses by using surface etchings to manipulate light.

These lenses could make Face ID systems thinner, lighter, and more efficient in the iPhone 16 Pro.

Apple’s component partners, ViesEra and Asia Optical, are reportedly developing these new metalenses.

Metalenses can reduce the need for multiple camera lenses, enhancing design and performance.

Apple may introduce these metalenses in future iPhones, but could delay their use until iPhone 17 or Apple Glasses.

Rumors suggest Apple is also working on an under-display Face ID system for a notch-free iPhone design.
