The iPhone ringtone gets upgraded in iOS 26, and one tone is incredible

If you close your eyes and try to visualize the iPhone ringtone, you should be able to, or at the very least, be able to identify it when you hear it. Reflection, the current iPhone ringtone, was introduced in 2017 along with the iPhone X. However, it is set to receive a significant update in the most recent iOS 26 beta, which is the sixth one.

Six distinct tones for Reflection are included in the latest beta, which was released earlier this week. Each tone, as the name suggests, reflects a different variation on the same song. There are six different remixes of Reflection instead of just one ringtone, and one of them is amazing. I’m very excited for iOS 26 to be released in the fall so we can hear this in action.

Here are the new ringtones and everything else that’s pertinent in iOS 26 beta 6!

The new ringtones in iOS 26 beta 6

The seven different Reflections tones are:

  • Default (original)
  • Buoyant
  • Dreamer
  • Pond
  • Pop
  • Reflected
  • Surge

As seen by the surge of activity across social media, there’s one that stands out in particular: Dreamer.

Even though the default Reflections ringtone is excellent, I’ve been anticipating the release of iOS 26 in the fall ever since I heard this new remix. Timely drips that mimic a DJ scratching a record help the Dreamer tone hold your interest as you listen through it. If a DJ remixed it in a nightclub, it sounds just like I would have imagined.

The other key iOS 26 Beta 6 changes

The speed at which apps open or switch to and from the homescreen is one of iOS 26 Beta 6’s greatest enhancements. iOS 26 feels much more modern than prior releases just because it’s a big advance over earlier betas and iterations of the operating system.

Then, as Apple searches for the ideal ratio of legibility to translucency, Liquid Glass undergoes a number of changes. In addition to new Liquid Glass effects for the Lock Screen and toggles across the user interface, there is now greater color dispersion when switching between tabs within an application.

Last but not least, given how much of an improvement it is, the OS is still being improved and bug-fixed. As it approaches its final stages, iOS 26 is already proving to be one of Apple’s most significant software upgrades to date.
