iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are set to launch later this year, and Apple has already confirmed which iPhone and iPad models will be supported by these updates. Below, you’ll find a complete list of every iPhone and iPad compatible with the upcoming software.

Additionally, we’ve outlined which features of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will be restricted to newer devices, as some tools will only be available on the latest Apple chipsets. This will help you understand what to expect from the updates based on your device model.

iOS 18

Apple has confirmed that iOS 18 will be compatible with all iPhone models featuring the A12 Bionic chipset or newer. This includes all models from the iPhone XS onwards. Notably, this compatibility matches the criteria for iOS 17, meaning if your device currently supports iOS 17, you’ll be able to upgrade to iOS 18 without any issues.

To enhance readability, we have organized the list of iPadOS 18-compatible models by release date categories. This categorization includes various sizes and both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular configurations available for nearly all iPad models.

  • iPad Pro models from 2018 and later (3rd generation onwards)
  • iPad Air models from 2019 and later (3rd generation onwards)
  • iPad models from 2020 and later (5th generation onwards)
  • iPad mini models from 2019 and later (5th generation onwards)

With the release of iPadOS 18, Apple is discontinuing support for certain older iPad models. Specifically, the iPad Pro 10.5-inch (2017), the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2017), and the iPad 9.7-inch (2018) will no longer be compatible with the new operating system. This marks a change from iPadOS 17, where these models were still supported.
