Samsung has revealed the Exynos W1000 chipset, which will power the upcoming Galaxy Watch7 and Watch7 Ultra, ahead of the highly anticipated Unpacked event on July 10.
Built using a cutting-edge 3nm process, the Exynos W1000 features a 5-core CPU, including a high-performance Cortex-A78 core clocked at 1.6GHz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 1.5GHz. According to Samsung, this advanced chipset offers significant performance improvements: app launches are 2.7 times faster, single-core performance is 3.4 times better, and multi-core performance is 3.7 times more efficient.
The chipset features a Mali-G68 MP2 GPU that supports displays up to qHD resolution (960×540), making it perfect for the larger screen of the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra. It also employs Fan-Out Panel Level Packaging (FO-PLP) technology to improve heat management in compact wearable devices.
The Exynos W1000 leverages System in a Package (SiP) integration to enhance its performance and efficiency. This advanced chipset includes robust power management features and utilizes embedded Package on Package (ePoP) technology to integrate both DRAM and NAND flash memory. This innovative approach allows for a more compact design, improving overall functionality and reliability.
Samsung emphasizes its latest advancements with a 2.5D Always-on Display, promising enhanced detail and vibrant colors for watch faces. The Galaxy Watch 7 series boasts robust connectivity options such as Bluetooth LE, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, and NFC, facilitating seamless payment transactions. With integrated eMMC storage of 32GB, Samsung aligns with leaked details about the Galaxy Watch 7 series, promising ample storage capacity for users.
The Exynos W1000 chipset offers an advanced wearable experience, promising flagship-level performance with efficiency improvements and up to 2–3 days of battery life for upcoming smartwatches.
