Apple rarely introduces new iPhone apps, but a fresh addition might be on the horizon. According to 9to5Mac, the iOS 18.3 beta 2 update includes references to a new app called Invites. This app was also hinted at in earlier iOS 18.2 beta versions under the name “Apple Invites,” though it didn’t make it to the final release of that update.
While not officially confirmed, speculation from 9to5Mac hints that this app might focus on assisting users in organizing meetings and in-person events, akin to functionalities already present in the native Calendar app. The rumored features suggest that the Invites app could offer capabilities such as viewing a list of invitees and tracking attendee confirmations.
The timing of the Invites app announcement remains uncertain. Since it was discovered in the latest iOS 18.3 beta, it’s possible that it could debut with the official release of iOS 18.3. However, instead of launching a standalone app, Apple might integrate these new invitation features directly into existing apps like iMessage.
iOS 18.3 is shaping up to be a more modest update compared to the feature-rich iOS 18.2. Expected improvements include support for robot vacuums in the Apple Home app, enhancements to the Calculator app, and general bug fixes and minor updates. While it may not introduce groundbreaking changes, it aims to refine the overall user experience.
Released in December, iOS 18.2 was a standout update packed with exciting new features. It debuted Apple Intelligence’s Image Playground, enabling AI-powered image editing, and Genmoji, allowing users to create personalized emojis. The Mail app underwent a major redesign, offering a sleeker interface and new functionalities like email scheduling and follow-up reminders.
Additionally, iOS 18.2 allowed users to set default apps for browsing, email, and messaging in compliance with EU regulations. Other enhancements included updates to Find My, Photos, and Safari, along with significant bug fixes and performance improvements.
With iOS 18.3 expected to be announced in the coming weeks, users can look forward to further refinements to their iPhone experience.
