A recent leak about the upcoming Google Pixel 9 lineup includes a YouTube video by PixoPhone showcasing the Pixel 8 Pro alongside the Pixel 9 Pro XL. While the video doesn’t reveal any new details about the Pixel 9 Pro XL, it’s exciting to see both handsets side by side for the first time on video.
In the video, both phones showcase a similar matte finish on the back and appear quite comparable in size. However, distinct differences quickly emerge between the two models.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL features a flat frame, contrasting with the curved edges of the Pixel 8 Pro. Additionally, the cameras are distinct; the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a camera bar that doesn’t extend to the edges and is more oval-shaped. Both phones, however, maintain rounded corners.
Google is set to unveil the Pixel 9 Pro XL at its “Made by Google” event on Tuesday, August 13. This launch will also feature the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Marking the return of the XL version since 2019, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is expected to boast a 6.5-inch display, slightly larger than the 6.1-inch display of the Pixel 9 Pro.
In addition to the design changes previously mentioned, the two Pro phones are anticipated to share several features. Both models are expected to come equipped with primary, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras, and will extensively integrate Google Gemini, the company’s advanced AI tools.
Recently, there has been buzz about the Pixel 9 Pro XL, rumored to feature an impressive 16GB of RAM—marking the first time a Pixel phone exceeds the 12GB RAM threshold.
In addition, Google has released teaser videos for the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in the past few days. However, official videos for the regular Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro XL have yet to be unveiled. Fans are eagerly awaiting more updates from Google, hoping for additional information soon.
