Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil a new addition to its upcoming iPhone 17 series — the iPhone 17 Air — which is tipped to be ultra-thin and possibly replace the existing Plus model in the lineup. As leaks continue to surface, fresh details now shed light on the expected design, battery size, features, and price of this lightweight device.
Let’s take a closer look at everything revealed so far about the iPhone 17 Air.
According to a new leak, the iPhone 17 Air will feature a sleek body measuring just 5.5mm in thickness, making it thinner than Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, which is currently 5.8mm thick. If accurate, this would make the iPhone 17 Air the thinnest iPhone ever produced.
Despite its ultra-slim design, the iPhone 17 Air is said to weigh just 145 grams, which is lighter than most current flagship phones.
One of the major trade-offs of the slim design appears to be in the battery department. The upcoming iPhone 17 Air is expected to house a 2,800mAh battery, a noticeable drop from the 3,561mAh cell in the iPhone 16.
However, Apple may use high-density silicon-anode battery cells, which could enhance power efficiency by 15% to 20%. This new battery technology is designed to deliver longer usage times despite a smaller capacity.
Additionally, Apple is rumored to be working on an optional battery case accessory to provide extra battery life for power users.
Here are the key features expected from the iPhone 17 Air:
Apple is expected to make feature sacrifices like fewer cameras and speakers to accommodate the thinner profile, which aligns with the brand’s focus on sleek and futuristic designs.
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to carry a premium price tag. According to the leak, it could be priced at $1,299 globally, which translates to approximately Rs. 1,09,500 in India. This positions the Air variant as a luxury, design-focused iPhone, targeting users who prioritize form factor and portability over high-end hardware.
The iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, is expected to launch in September 2025, following Apple’s traditional release cycle.
If you’re someone who values slim design, lightweight form, and innovative battery tech, the iPhone 17 Air could be the ideal pick in the upcoming iPhone lineup. While it may not offer all the features of the Pro models, its compact and premium build could appeal to a wide audience — especially those who want a modern iPhone that stands out in terms of design.
However, since none of these details have been officially confirmed by Apple, it’s wise to take these leaks with a grain of salt and wait for the official launch announcement.
