Although the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 is still more than six months away, numerous leaks have already surfaced about what to expect. One of the most intriguing rumors concerns the chipset that the upcoming smartphone series will feature.
According to a report from ZDNet Korea, Samsung is diligently working to finalize its Exynos 2500 chip in time for inclusion in a significant number of Galaxy S25 smartphones. This new chip is expected to be featured in devices sold in various regions worldwide.
The chipset will enhance both performance and efficiency, improving battery life compared to the Exynos 2400 used in some regions for the Samsung Galaxy S24. However, Samsung is currently facing challenges in producing it on a large scale.
There’s still a chance for the situation to change, but Samsung might have to use the unannounced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor in all its Samsung Galaxy 25 phones. This possibility was first rumored back in March.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus come with different processors depending on the region. In the US, Canada, and China, these models are equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, they feature Samsung’s own Exynos 2400 processor.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, like its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 series, uses the Snapdragon chipset globally. This means that no matter where you purchase the Galaxy S24 Ultra, it will be equipped with the Snapdragon processor. This consistency applies to the entire Galaxy S23 lineup as well, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, all of which feature the Snapdragon chipset worldwide.
Snapdragon chips are generally more powerful, but the day-to-day performance difference isn’t substantial. By using its own Exynos chips alongside Snapdragon, Samsung can save money and maintain greater control over its hardware design. This strategy allows Samsung to optimize its devices more effectively and manage costs better.
If Samsung follows its current schedule, we can expect the Galaxy S25 phones to launch in January 2025. At that time, we’ll learn whether Samsung has integrated Exynos models alongside those powered by Qualcomm silicon.
