The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is shaping up to be a game-changer in the foldable phone market. Freshly leaked CAD renders of the next-generation foldable have surfaced online, giving us a sneak peek at Samsung’s upcoming flagship. Courtesy of Android Headlines, the renders suggest two major design changes that set the Z Fold 7 apart: a significantly slimmer body and larger displays.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 to Be the Slimmest Yet
One of the most striking changes in the leaked renders is the drastic reduction in thickness. When unfolded, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to measure just 4.5mm, making it 1.1mm slimmer than its predecessor, the Z Fold 6. Even when folded, the device will reportedly be around 9.5mm thick with the camera bump or closer to 9mm without it.
While this is a major improvement over previous Samsung foldables, it still falls short of being the absolute thinnest foldable on the market. Competing devices like the Oppo Find N5 (4.2mm) and Honor Magic V3 (4.4mm) have an edge in this category. However, Samsung’s focus seems to be on striking a balance between durability and portability.
Bigger and Better Displays for an Enhanced Experience
Samsung is also increasing display sizes to improve usability. The inner display of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to grow to 8.2 inches, making it the largest inner display on a book-style foldable. This surpasses the OPPO Find N5’s 8.12-inch panel, which previously held the record.
The outer display is also rumored to expand to 6.5 inches, addressing past criticism about the narrow cover screen. Compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the front display is expected to be around 11mm wider when unfolded, making it more comfortable for everyday tasks like texting and browsing.
Powerful Performance with Snapdragon 8 Elite
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is likely to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset—the same processor powering Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25 series. There’s speculation that Samsung might opt for a 7-core version of the chip, similar to what Oppo did with the Find N5, to improve thermal efficiency.
While there have been rumors about an Exynos 2500 variant, it seems unlikely given Samsung’s strong partnership with Qualcomm for its premium foldables.
Battery and Charging – No Major Upgrade?
Battery life remains a key concern for foldable phones, and it appears that the 4,400mAh battery from previous models will make a return. While this may disappoint some users, the efficiency gains from the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip could result in longer battery life. However, until real-world tests are conducted, this remains speculative.
Camera Upgrades – 200MP Primary Sensor Incoming?
Samsung might be planning a massive camera upgrade for the Z Fold 7. Leaks suggest the device will feature a 200MP primary sensor, a significant jump from previous models. The camera setup is expected to include:
- 12MP ultra-wide camera
- 10MP telephoto lens
- 10MP selfie camera on the outer display
- 4MP under-display camera on the inner screen
It remains unclear whether Samsung will improve the quality of its under-display camera, which has been one of the weaker points in previous iterations.

Samsung usually unveils its foldable lineup in mid-July, but with the Galaxy S25 series launching slightly later this year, the Z Fold 7 and its flip counterpart, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, could also see a delayed launch.
