DEMON SLAYER SEASON 4 STORY SYNOPSIS

Demon Slayer

The fourth season of “Demon Slayer” adapts chapters 128-139 of the manga. It kicks off with an hour-long episode, continuing Tanjiro’s quest to avenge his family. Alongside his allies, Tanjiro embarks on the Hashira Training arc. Spoilers ahead for all eight episodes of this season.

In the first episode, the Wind and Serpent Hashira set out on a mission to rescue a kidnapped woman. During their search, they stumble upon the entrance to the elusive Infinity Castle, which disappears before they can enter. Meanwhile, Kagaya’s wife, Amane, leads discussions about the mysterious marks that appeared on Mitsuri and Muichiro during their recent battles.

Tojiro and his comrades undertake rigorous training in anticipation of their upcoming battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, who remains relentless in his pursuit of Nezuko. Each Hashira takes charge of specialized training sessions aimed at bolstering the Demon Slayers’ strength, except for the Water Hashira who declines. The episode culminates with Tamayo, the talented doctor and demon, being visited by Kagaya’s crow. She is recruited to join forces with Shinobu Kocho in the fight against Muzan, marking a pivotal alliance against their formidable foe.

In episode two, Tanjiro is determined to uncover the reason behind Giyu’s reluctance to join the Hashira Training. Eventually, Giyu opens up to Tanjiro, revealing a haunting memory from his past involving Sabito from season one, which has left him grappling with feelings of inadequacy. With Tanjiro’s support, Giyu finds the strength to confront and overcome his inner turmoil. Meanwhile, the Insect Hashira, Shinobu, shares her strategy with Kanao, outlining her plan to teach her how to exact vengeance on the demon responsible for her older sister’s tragic demise.

In episode three, Tanjiro shines during the rigorous Hanshira training orchestrated by Tengen. Assigned a daunting task where Tengen poses as a demon hunting them, Tanjiro emerges as a formidable leader. His unwavering determination inspires fellow trainees, driving them to surpass their limits and successfully complete their training.

In episode four, the training reaches new heights with Muichiro. Tanjiro continues to showcase his impressive skills against Sanemi and Obanai. To foster a better rapport with the trainees, Tanjiro challenges Muichiro to a paper plane contest. Although Muichiro emerges victorious effortlessly, the experience prompts him to reconsider his approach towards mentoring the trainees, ultimately leading to a positive change in attitude.

In episode five, training progresses through Mitsuri’s, Obanai’s, and finally Sanemi’s stages. While Tanjiro shows promise, Sanemi, driven by personal vendetta, challenges both Tanjiro and the trainees, imparting a tough lesson on resilience. Meanwhile, Genya, Wind Hashira Sanemi’s younger brother, discloses his unique ability to consume demons. Strained by his emotions, Sanemi abruptly halts Tanjiro’s training. Despite this setback, Tanjiro and Zenitsu push forward to conquer the final stage.

In episode six, the towering Stone Hashira Gyomei undertakes rigorous training across three stages: enduring a waterfall, lifting logs, and pushing a massive boulder. Tanjiro grapples with the boulder’s weight until Genya advises him on harnessing Repetitive Action—using memories to boost strength—allowing him to succeed. Meanwhile, the looming threat of Muzan intensifies as Biwa Demon Nakime tracks down 60% of the Demon Slayers in pursuit of Nezuko and Kagaya.

In episode seven, Tanjiro completes his rigorous training. On his way to meet Giyu, he encounters Zenitsu, visibly upset over a mysterious letter. Meanwhile, Giyu and Sanemi engage in a tense sparring session, marred by Sanemi’s ongoing hostility towards Tanjiro. Amidst the confrontation, Sanemi makes a startling discovery: Nakime’s concealed eye, signaling a grave infiltration within the Hashira Training Corps. Concurrently, Muzan makes a dramatic entrance at the Ubuyashiki mansion, where he confronts Kagaya, the Corps’ esteemed leader.

In episode eight, Muzan’s relentless pursuit of Nezuko reaches a critical point. Kagaya orchestrates a daring assault, detonating explosives within Muzan’s mansion, dealing a devastating blow to him and much of his clan, aiming to stun Muzan. Though he narrowly escapes, the Hashira and Demon Slayers quickly converge to confront him. As the battle intensifies and victory seems within reach, Nakime unveils the Infinity Castle’s hidden depths, drawing them all into its mystical confines, ensnaring them in a desperate struggle for survival.

DEMON SLAYER SEASON 4: FUTURE SEASONS?

With Demon Slayer season 4 concluded, fans are grappling with a significant cliffhanger as the Hashira and Demon Slayers find themselves captured within the Infinity Castle. The franchise’s next chapter, however, will diverge from the usual format: instead of a traditional series of episodes, it will unfold through a trilogy of movies focusing on the Infinity Castle arc.

Demon Slayer

The teaser trailer opens with a foreboding glimpse of Infinity Castle’s dimly-lit staircase and hallway, setting a tense atmosphere. It leads into the announcement: “With an enduring resolve… Enter the Battle at Infinity Castle.” The preview then features a dynamic montage showcasing the main Hashira and intense combat sequences.

Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini expressed excitement about the upcoming release, stating, “Crunchyroll is thrilled to bring this trilogy of films to fans on the big screen. It promises to be a truly epic and consequential pop cultural event when it hits theaters.”

Season four of Demon Slayer prepared the heroes with the training they needed for the battles ahead. The first half of the Final Battle Arc in the manga is the Infinity Castle arc, followed by the Sunrise Countdown arc, spanning chapters 137 to 205. With so much story left to cover, the decision was made to adapt these arcs into a trilogy of feature-length movies. While Demon Slayer season five won’t follow the traditional season format, these three movies will conclude the epic tale.
